Objective:
Help the group increase its capacity solve problems and achieve goals.

 

How:
Conduct group-coaching sessions one hour, three times per month.

 

Process:
Step 1 Enrollment. One on one with selected managers, leaders and supervisors

  • Identify skills they individually want to expand
  • Identify problems and challenges they want to resolve
  • Identify issues they want to resolve
  • Educate them about what to expect and how to participate in a group coaching process.

Method: individual conversation and intake form

 

Step 2 Before the first session.

  • Email out ground rules for participation
  • Provide documentation regarding, Confidentiality, Coaching, Individual bio form and logistics

 

Step 3 First Session objective; bond the group, create energy for each other and the group process

  • Opening activity; Open ended question e.g.: "If this group is successful and it meets your expectations, how will you be changed? How will you be different? What will your business life be like?"

  • Second activity: Ask each member of the group to identify key issues, goals or problems they would like the group to discuss, brainstorm or help resolve. This will usually take more time that is available. This continues in the next session. This is a critical part of group process and should not be rushed.

  • Closing activity: As their coach, I will remind them that this is a safe place to stretch and grow. There will be good times and times of challenges, difficulty, adversity. They will be profoundly affected both personally and professionally. These sessions are their opportunity to support and be supported. This is a platform for personal responsibility, accountability and achieving goals. This process is about transforming the business, their relationships with their peers and team members and themselves.

 

Step 4 Second Session objective: maintain rapport, safety and a place to explore and grow, maintain energy and enthusiasm begin the process of problem solving and for the collective wisdom of the group to emerge.
PROCESS (repeated in each session in the future)

  • Opening ritual: short motivational story (30 seconds) relevant to the group
  • Check-In: each member, where they are, frustrations, feelings or issues that might preoccupy or distract them.
  • COACH; focus the group to bring their intentions, energy, consciousness, curiosity, compassion and active listening skills to the group RIGHT NOW.
  • Wins/Challenges: each member will share with the group what they that was new or different, check backs on last weeks action items. What worked or did not work and what were the lessons learned from the failure or success.
  • COACH: records a lessons learned log for distribution and knowledge retention.
  • FOCUS FOR TODAY: Group determines the focus of today’s discussion, can be from the list generated or a new item that has emerged since the last session (limited to 5 minutes).
  • COACH: Guided discussion regarding the FOCUS FOR TODAY.
  • Commitment: Shortly before the end time of the session, I ask each member to write down what they will commit to do for themselves and for the group problem/issue between now and the next session.
  • COACH: These are recorded and posted for the group.
  • HOW TO TIPS; I ask the group if anyone has an idea or tip on how to address something they heard during the session
  • Closure: I will ask each member to share something of value they have experienced or learned something they became aware of or will work on during the time between now and the next session.

 

Step 5 AFTER THE SESSION:

  • Next Day email a summary of the topic discussed and the commitments made
  • 3 DAYS BEFORE THE NEXT SESSION: email reminder of commitments and the next meeting.

  • Creation of a safe place to support and be supported by team members

Costs: $200 per person per month, minimum of 5 and maximum of 8 participants.

The client, a $50+ million manufacture of fabric and vinyl fabricated products achieved registration in record time. The effort started in early April, with the successful registration audit completed the last week of August.
